Hikaru Utada Announces Label Change to Sony Music Japan

Hikaru Utada will be leaving Universal Music Group in favor of Sony Music Japan.

Utada was signed to Toshiba EMI, which was later renamed EMI Music Japan in 2007. In 2013, the label was absorbed in the Universal Music Group.

As she's changing labels, she expressed her gratitude towards the team at the Universal Music Group and EMI.

The reason for the change was that she wants to do some different things. Hopefully this means we can expect a new album from her sooner than we expected.
