Namie Amuro is providing the theme song for the upcoming "Death Note" movie. The live-action movie will be titled "Death Note: Light up the NEW world".
The ballad song is titled "Dear Diary" and is inspired by the movie's title. Amuro hopes the song helps listeners find the strength to endure life's sadness and pain, to find light in the darkness and start believing in love.
Amuro will also provide a 2nd song, titled "Fighter". The track will be an aggressive dance song, which is sung from the perspective of the movie's character, Misa Amane.
Takahira Sato, who is the movie's producer, explained that previous "Death Note" movies used international artists, such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lenny Kravitz, to bring attention to the movies. Since the series have picked up recognition, the producer decided to go with a Japanese artist.
"Dear Diary" and "Fighter" will be released as a double A-side single. However, no release date has been announced.
As for "Death Note: Light up the NEW world", it will hit cinemas on October 29th.
