Sung Hyun Ah’s Prostitution Case Resolved, 6 Years Later

Actress Sung Hyun Ah was prosecuted in 2014 with allegations regarding prostitution. On June 10th, all allegations towards her were dropped by a ruling from the Suwon District Court.

Due to her health, she was not attending the hearing, with only her legal representative being there. On June 10th, the Suwon District Court ruled she was not guilty of the charges.

In 2010 she was accused of being sexually involved with a private businessman in exchange for money. The accusation stated they met three times and she received a total of 50 million won (about $43,000).  In 2013 she was also accused of engaging in escort activities.

Sung Hyun Ah appealed the original ruling in 2014 with the cause reaching the supreme court. In February, the supreme court dismissed the case and fine, referring back to the Suwon District Court. The court ruled that the actress might have met the businessman with good intentions and found her not guilty.

According to her representative,  "A [the alleged buyer] was introduced to her through B [the alleged broker] as a genuine candidate for marriage. But after learning that he had no intention of marriage, she separated from him. A met many female celebrities and B facilitated those meetings and Sung Hyun Ah simply got caught up in the scandal. It was not a sponsorship."
