Hikaru Utada Officially Announces Comeback

Hikaru Utada is finally returning to the music scene. In an announcement, the singer officially breaks her five year long hiatus.

As previously reported, Utada will provide new songs for two programs on April 4th. The first song announced as part of her comeback is titled "Hanataba wo Kimi ni" and will be used as opening theme for NHK drama "Toto Nee-chan".

Also previously announced is the 2nd, currently untitled song, which will be used as ending theme for NTV news program "NEWS ZERO".

A special website is up and running to commemorate Utada's return. A cherry blossom tree will grow whenever someone tweets using the hashtag "#おかえりHIKKI" (#WelcomebackHIKKI) or buy her music.

The special website will be part of a larger project, titled "NEW-TURN", which will be using money raised to replant cherry trees in the areas affected by the 2011 Tohaku earthquake and tsunami.
